We are delighted that our Chairman Gio Benedetti has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Scottish SME Business Awards 2019 in the category of Business Man of the Year. This is such an honour as the awards are voted for by the Scottish public and recognise national business success in many areas such as Retail Business of the year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Export Business of the Year and Young achiever of the year. The prestigious award ceremony will certainly shine the spotlight on the businesses and dedicated business professionals who have made such a positive difference in the market place they work within.

Over Gio’s business career he has become synonymous with developing new innovative products from the Baco easy cut film/foil dispenser to the market leading first aid kits which won Millennium product status in 2000. In one of his latest ventures at Green Cross Medico he has been working in conjunction with NHS Innovations South East and The Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Working together Gio has developed Airglove, an innovative medical device which enables IV access through vasodilation of patients’ veins for the delivery of intravenous drugs. With extended courses of treatment such as chemotherapy repeated cannulation is often required and veins can become fragile, hidden or damaged. Airglove is a CE approved medical device which has taken over 5 years to develop though research, testing and patient evaluation trials at The Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Glasgow Caledonian University. Recently Airglove received the Seal of Excellence Award delivered by the European Commission.

Good luck to all the finalists, we are looking forward to the awards ceremony at the Marriot Hotel, Glasgow on Wednesday 8th May.
