We are delighted to become members of Medilink West Midlands this month. We met Joanne Mewis (Service and Membership Manager) along with her colleague Lucy Chatwin from the West Midlands Academic Health Sciences Network at the Arab Health exhibition in Dubai in January. Since then they have been supporting us and our new innovation Airglove which is now featured on the Meridian Portal, an innovation ecosystem in the West Midlands helping bring new innovations to the attention of regional NHS professionals. Chris Ramsden (Consultant Clinical Scientist) was instrumental in guiding us through the submission process until it went live. From this were invited last week to present Airglove to the National Institute for Health Research in Stafford at the Trust Lead Research Nurse Meeting. This was unique opportunity to demonstrate Airglove to Marion Evens (Cancer Research Locality Manager) and her esteemed colleagues from various trusts in the region. They are very aware of the issues around chemotherapy and the difficulties with cannulisation of their patients due to hidden and fragile veins, especially with repeated cannulation required on extended courses of treatment. It was great to show and demonstrate Airglove that not only helps to gently raise veins but is a very comfortable patient experience meeting with Health and Safety along with saving on nursing time and cost savings for the NHS.
